During my artist-in-residence in Reykjavík, I continued my exploration of transformation. Inspired by the dramatic natural phenomena of volcanoes, which constantly create new land, I also turned my attention to the plants, animals, and microorganisms that shape and inhabit this earth. In this context, I created a series small-format drawings that can be connected or exchanged with one another. They depict landscapes and organisms, at times resembling cell structures, and point to the transitions between macro- and microcosm. At the heart of my work lies the question of boundaries: Where does a body, a planet, an organism begin? The deeper I look or measure – for instance through a microscope – the more these boundaries seem to shift. The drawings are modular in nature and can be arranged in any order – like a puzzle that can never be completed, but can always be expanded.
